Traditionally, all the women are made holes on their both ears since they were babies to were jewellery. And this tradition is still practicing until now. There is a Khmer legend said about the initiation of making holes on women’s ears.
Long time ago, there was a wealthy man who was the richest in his village. He had a big beautiful house like a palace which decorated with the most luxury things of his time. He had a wife and many servants in the house. The wealthy man also had a love affair with one among the lady-servants which this has always been a secret to his wife.

Khmer Legend Relates to Raising Luck Ceremony
Raising luck ceremony is very common in Cambodia. Monks are invited for this ritual at home. Whenever people feel that their luck is down which misfortune might be happened to them, they prepare this ceremony to avoid or at least to minimize the size of danger. However, there is a Khmer legend story relates to why Cambodian perform raising luck ceremony.
Once upon a time, there was a good King governed his kingdom with peace and prosperity. Unfortunately the king has no succeed son. His citizens love their king and regarded him as their divinity. They asked him to prepare a praying ceremony to ask for a son, because their god king couldn’t has no one succeed after him.
