Khmer LegendRain is essential for all living beings on earth. Throughout drying season, people tried to water their crops with water, but the plants couldn’t growing at their best like being watering by rain. Thus, if there is any year which rain is lack, people prepare a ritual to ask for enough rain. Because lack of rain can cause two main disasters: starvation and sickness. Raising luck ceremony is very common in Cambodia. Monks are invited for this ritual at home. Whenever people feel that their luck is down which misfortune might be happened to them, they prepare this ceremony to avoid or at least to minimize the size of danger. However, there is a Khmer legend story relates to why Cambodian perform raising luck ceremony.

Once upon a time, there was a good King governed his kingdom with peace and prosperity. Unfortunately the king has no succeed son. His citizens love their king and regarded him as their divinity. They asked him to prepare a praying ceremony to ask for a son, because their god king couldn’t has no one succeed after him.
